Tokyo Baptist Church in Japan was founded in 1957 by William and Doris Jackson, after the Japan Baptist Mission asked them to plant an English-language church. They began with 27 members in a temporary building in Shibuya, before building its current building in 1959. Today, TBC is a multi-site church with locations in Shibuya, West Tokyo and Misato.

My husband and I had the privilege to gather and worship with other fellow Christ followers at 9am Sunday service. We received the most warm welcome from the front door greeters, to several church members and the pastor. They truly embrace the love, joy and grace of Christ. Thank you so much for sharing your church with us. The prayers, hymns, songs and message were excellent (all in English with Japanese subtitles for the sermon). I was informed members represent about 50 countries! If you’re looking for a church family or a place to worship when in Tokyo that will give an idea of what Heaven might look like, look no further! Attended Saturday evening 7:00 pm service. Loved the warmth of pastor and congregation. The message was deep and touching. Glad to know about the growth of church. God bless Tokyo Baptist Church.
I visited this church on a Saturday evening service and Pastor Yozawa greeted me very warmly; he then proceeded to preach passionately from 1 Corinthians 2. His preaching of the Word is powerful and full of truth. This church is Christ centered and the message is focused on the gospel. I felt blessed to have the opportunity to worship in Tokyo and heard the Word.
The church is filled with international community Christian belivers. The best place to worship (in English) in and around Tokyo. I went to attend the service for nearly 10 weeks when I was in Japan. A warm welcoming and friendly people. They encourage everyone to participate in all church activities. I love the worship time in the service. Though it is in English, japanese translation will be screened.
Visited tonight first time 7 pm service. Wonderful message. Warm people greeters. Good music. Could not ask for better. They love the Lord. Will pray that I can come back.
