Gateway Baptist Church, based in Mackenzie, Australia was first launched in 1928 as a Sunday school, becoming a church in its own right in 1948 under the name of Holland Park Baptist Church. It was renamed in 1990 after moving into the Queensland Pavilion building. From 2012 onwards multiple campuses were launched.

That morning, after hearing that Stephen was considering a new church, I decided to visit Gateway Baptist Church— the place both he and Tani were drawn to— simply to feel its spirit for myself. My inner sense of direction has always been clear. It wasn’t curiosity; it was a quiet knowing of the soul, a pull that whispers, “Go.” Inside the church, peace and energy mingled like sunlight and breeze. Children’s laughter, voices of fellowship, the aroma of coffee from the lobby café, and the shimmer of Christmas trees—all blended into harmony. The message was delivered by Lauren, the pastor’s wife. Her words carried warmth, not performance, and I could feel a gentle light wrapping softly around my heart. Though I didn’t meet the pastor himself, through his family I could already sense the heart and spirit of the church. Despite its large size, it was not cold or distant— but full of warmth, harmony, and genuine humanity.
Gateway Baptist Church – Mackenzie is a welcoming and inspiring community. Every visit feels warm and inclusive, with a genuine focus on faith, support, and connection. The staff and volunteers are kind, approachable, and always ready to help. The services are uplifting and encourage spiritual growth in a meaningful way. I highly recommend this church to anyone looking for a supportive and caring community.
Came to this church half a dozen times and unfortunately every time was a negative experience. I would walk in through the car park and foyer smiling and saying hello to everyone i passed and not one person would smile or say hello back. I was ignored. I find the congregation here very hypocritocal. They say everyone is welcome but i never felt welcome at all. Since leaving i have met three other ladies who had the same experience here and also never returned. Not a friendly kind church at all. I find it extremely hypocritical that these people say they love God but they were on every occassion i attended rude and unkind. I will never go back. They need to practise what they preach, love and kindness and inclusion to all. Very dissapointing. I kept going back hoping it would be different but every time it was the exact same experience. The people were cold and frosty and not friendly and welcoming at all.
Awesome Church! You're made to feel very welcome. Be going back again 🙏😇🤗
