Elevation Church is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. It began as a church plant of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. The church was founded when Steven Furtick and seven other families from Christ Covenant Church in Shelby, North Carolina, relocated to Charlotte. The first service took place in 2006 at Providence High School.
