Church of the City New York traces its roots to Origins, a church plant founded by Jon Tyson in 2006. It was renamed Trinity Grace Church, which developed a parish model and grew to 11 congregations across New York City. In 2017, the Trinity Grace network was reorganized into independent churches, with two congregations becoming Church of the City New York.
